Job Profile Summary

This role focuses on providing medical and clinical support services to patients. In addition, this role focuses on performing the following Surgical Services duties: Responsible for medical services involving the excision or incision of a patient's body, such as interventional pain management and other procedures. This position also works to provide a safe environment for patients undergoing invasive procedures or surgery. A clinical technologist role that has specialized knowledge or skills gained through a combination of vocational education, training, and experience. This role will be most commonly applied to patient care and/or scientific/laboratory jobs. An experienced level role requiring basic knowledge of job procedures and tools obtained through work experience and requiring vocational or technical education. Works under moderate supervision, works through problems of a routine nature, but may at times require interpretation or deviation from standard procedures and communicates information that requires some explanation or interpretation.

Job Overview

Under regular supervision and following established procedures and instructions, provides basic direct care to patients as delegated by a Registered Nurse. Assists room turnover, cleaning, patient positioning, obtaining supplies/equipment and flash sterilization. Prepares for next day's surgical cases by utilizing preference cards to pick inner core supplies and add to appropriate case cart to enhance efficiency on the day of surgery. This position will be responsible for collaborating with the lead for each service to update preference cards in the intraoperative documentation system and streamlining the process for picking supplies for surgical cases. In collaboration with supply chain, this position will be responsible for reviewing supplies by service regularly and making recommendations for supplies to be eliminated and/or added to inventory through the surgical value analysis committee. Assists the nursing and sterile processing leadership in securing special products and/or loaner trays. Follows applicable policies and procedures in handling supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Operating Room and or sterile processing experience.

5. Advocates the mission, philosophy and core values of the service line ensuring consistency with the hospital's mission statement.

6. Maintains collaborative, team relationships with peers and colleagues in order to effectively contribute to the working groups achievement of goals, and to help foster a positive work environment.

Physical Requirements:

1. Ability to work within the semi-restricted and restricted environment of the Operating Room and other Perioperative support areas.

2. Frequent exposure to hazardous chemicals, blood and bodily fluids, extreme noise levels, radiation, lasers, and drastic fluctuations in ambient temperature, etc.

3. Ability to remain in a standing position for long periods of time.

4. Requires frequent lifting and positioning of patients, materials, equipment, power tools, instruments, etc.

Skills & Abilities:

1. Interpersonal skills required interacting effectively with staff, patients, physicians, vendors, and other departments within the hospital.
