The Portfolio Manager plays a critical role in developing and managing the Firm's Wealth Management group by working with and supporting the team responsible for internally managed portfolios. This position will assume a leadership role collaborating with clients and actively participating in client meetings and discussions with internal stakeholders. The Portfolio Manager is responsible for managing portfolios created from a universe of US traded large capitalization stocks, continuously assessing risk/reward of current holdings and potential new ideas. This position will also contribute to asset allocation and the selection of other assets, including ETFs, mutual funds, and alternative investments.

The Portfolio Manager leverages external research resources for data analysis and new idea generation, developing and presenting a logical, fundamental investment thesis on individual stocks based on primary and external research, and creating company models that include financial statements, comparable valuations, and discounted cash flows. This position builds and maintains materials to outline and support the equity decision making process, contribute to materials in support of the broader investment team asset allocation decision making process, and discuss with clients and key stakeholders the investment decision making process and rationale for investment decisions.

Reporting Relationships:

This position reports to the Chief Investment Officer.

Location: Boston, MA - This is a Hybrid role.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Manage complex and high-value client relationships.
  • Create material for use in client and prospect meetings and for other external uses.
  • Develop content for use in team and committee meetings.
  • Apply Nixon Peabody Trust Company's (NPTC) framework for equity research/selection process to existing and prospective holdings, including:
  • Fundamental Quality Thresholds (consistent with above-average quality/secular growth theme).
  • Detailed analysis/evidence/financial models supporting all investment ideas.
  • Standardized, definable, measurable, and repeatable process for stock analysis for presentation to Investment Committee.
  • Process for maintenance and uses of stock research that does not result in an immediate actionable idea.
  • Define review process of existing NP Model portfolio companies on regular (quarterly earnings) and periodic (and ad hoc) basis.
  • Research and contribute asset class views, sector and security views in non-equity financial products including fixed income, commodity, and private investments.
  • Contribute to framework/process to research, analyze, understand investment themes and areas of topical interest for possible investment merit.
  • Initiate trades and rebalance client portfolios using the firm's order management trading and analysis systems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint expertise with experience on Bloomberg and/or FactSet.
  • Logical decision-making skills with the ability to identify key drivers and efficiently, effectively assess the risk/reward of investments.
  • Team player who seeks tasks/projects through to completion in a timely manner.
  • Strong interest in asset allocation and wealth management.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform financial statement, business, and valuation analyses.
  • Ability to translate research into actionable ideas for client portfolios.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated presentation skills for client meetings and new business opportunities.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Self-starter with a results-driven personality.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree or CFA preferred. Work experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.

Experience:

7-10 years of equity analysis and portfolio management experience required. Buy-side sector expertise preferred.


In accordance with applicable Federal and State laws, the anticipated annual salary range for this position is as follows: Boston, MA: $136,450.00 to $208,200.00

In addition to a standard benefits package, this role may be eligible for additional contingent compensation based on an array of factors, including but not limited to: work performance, geographic location, work experience, education, and qualifications. Because such contingent compensation is not yet calculable or may be zero ($0) in some circumstances, the above-listed salary range is Nixon Peabody's good faith estimate of the annual salary it reasonably expects to pay for the position at the time of this posting.
